SHEBOYGAN – The Midsummer Festival of the Arts will mark its 55th year July 19-20 at John Michael Kohler Arts Center and City Green.

The weekend also includes hands-on artmaking, strolling performers, demonstrations, food trucks, live music and more inside the Arts Center, 608 New York Ave.

Artmaking activities will be inside the activities tent and John Michael Kohler Arts Center.

Stop by the activities tent to create a one-of-a-kind mosaic star or flower inspired by the grottoes in “A Beautiful Experience: The Midwest Grotto Tradition” exhibition inside the Arts Center. Use these unique creations to enhance your indoor or outdoor space.

Drop in the Social STUDIO, inside the Arts Center, to make your own nicho to celebrate a friend, family member or personal hero. Inspired by her own heritage and the Arts Center’s annual theme, “This is Where I’m Coming From,” emerging artist program alum Sonia Vasquez reimagines nichos — the devotional shadow boxes common in Mexican folk art.

Strolling performers will include a stilt walker and aerial performances.

Watch for strolling performances by stilt walker Jess Clark from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and aerial performances with Warped Dance Company from 1 to 2 p.m.

Four Levitt AMP concerts are slated on City Green.

The Levitt AMP series will present free live music at City Green, 710 New York Ave.

The Belle Weather takes the stage at 11 a.m. July 19.

At 2 p.m. July 19, female-led brass band Brass Queens performs.

July 20 brings an 11 a.m. performance by Mama, a Milwaukee-based band led by songwriter Kat Wodtke, known for its blend of country, folk, indie rock and punk.

And at 2 p.m. July 20, blues, folk, punk guitarist Sunny War performs.

Those attending the concerts are encouraged to take blankets or chairs as seating is not provided. No alcoholic carry-ins are allowed.
