MANITOWOC – A former Mishicot High School teacher was convicted in Manitowoc County Circuit Court May 14 of sexually assaulting a student.
Ryan S. Schroeder, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of repeated sexual assault of same child. He was charged with 18 other felonies, all of which were dismissed, according to a plea agreement.
Federal child pornography case sentencing is set for June 16
In March, Schroeder was also convicted of one count of production of child pornography in the U.S. District Court.
His sentencing in the U.S. District Court is set for June 16 and his sentencing in the Manitowoc County Circuit Court is set for July 22.
Complaint outlines allegations in Manitowoc County investigation
While the federal indictment has been sealed to the public, the criminal complaint in Schroeder’s Manitowoc County case contains details of the county investigation.
According to the criminal complaint, law enforcement claims Schroeder admitted to sexually assaulting a student more than 50 times over a period of two years, starting when the student was 14 years old. He’s also suspected of keeping several dozen pornographic photos of the sexual assault victim and a second victim, whose age was not given.
Former Mishicot teacher was arrested in April 2025
Schroeder was arrested April 16, 2025, after an investigation that started when the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office received reports of alleged inappropriate behavior with students.
What to know about the state and federal court cases
Schroeder is being represented by attorneys David Pawlowski and Jason Luczak in the charges through the Manitowoc County Circuit Court. That case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Angelina Scarpelli and presided over by Judge Mark Rohrer.
Luczak is representing Schroeder in his federal case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Humble and presided over by District Judge Byron Conway.
