Audrie Pelosi, a 30-year-old Baraboo climbing guide, died after a climbing incident that occurred in Devil’s Lake State Park on May 30, according to her obituary and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
“Audrie was an old soul with a wild heart and a deep love for the outdoors,” her obituary stated. “She pursued a life filled with adventure, connection, and purpose, always seeking the next mountain to climb, trail to ride, or snow-covered slope to explore. She was a lover not a fighter, a climber not a whiner, one tough adventure chick.”
Pelosi’s death remains under investigation by the DNR, and no additional information regarding the incident will be released at this time, according to the agency.
Known as “Mrs. TheFox,” Pelosi was born on Feb. 19, 1996, in Duluth, Minnesota.
Pelosi met her love doing what she loved most
As an employee at Ski Hut in Duluth, she met her husband, Jimmy “The Fox” Robinson, during a snowboard event in Welch Village, Minnesota. The two made a connection that was described in her obituary as true love at first sight. The couple married Feb. 22, 2023, on Mount Bohemia, a mountain in Upper Michigan they both loved, surrounded by family and friends.
Pelosi later moved to Baraboo, where, according to her obituary, she became known as a “Baraboo celebrity” through her work and involvement in the local outdoor recreation community. She was involved with Ski Hut of Duluth, Viking Ski Shop of Chicago, Wildside Action Sports of Baraboo, Downtown Baraboo Inc., Bella Vita Coffee and the Apex Adventure Alliance.
‘The impact she made on the lives around her will endure for generations’
Whether Pelosi was known for her skills, dry wit or authenticity, she was described as someone who brought light wherever she went.
“Though her time with us was far too short, the impact she made on the lives around her will endure for generations,” her obituary said. “Audrie will be deeply missed by the snowboarding and rock-climbing communities that she loved so dearly. Her spirit lives on in every summit reached, every trail explored, and every snowy mountain run shared among friends.”
Pelosi’s survivors include her husband, Jimmy Robinson; and parents, Heather Schweiger and Paul “Penny” Pelosi.
