Radio veteran Brett Andrews, who left WRIT-FM (95.7) in January as part of a wave of cuts at radio giant iHeart, is coming back to Milwaukee’s radio airwaves — on a station operated by another national radio giant.
Audacy Wisconsin announced July 11 that Andrews has been named assistant brand manager at Audacy’s WMYX-FM (99.1) and WXSS-FM (103.7) starting July 14. He’ll also host the afternoon show on WMYX from 2 to 7 p.m.
Andrews also will be brand manager for Audacy’s WMHX-FM in Madison. Before his exit in January, he had been program director at WRIT since 2014, and morning show host at the Milwaukee station since 2019.
WMYX’s afternoon drive slot became available when Jay Michaels — whose afternoon show had been picked up by WMYX from sister station KHMX-FM in Houston in November — was let go by Audacy on June 30.
Andrews’s return to Milwaukee’s airwaves is part of a lineup reshuffle at WMYX.
Elizabeth Kay and Tony “Radar” Hess’ morning show, which has been on from 5 to 10 a.m., will air from 5:30 to 9 a.m., according to Audacy Wisconsin. Taylor Vaughn’s midday show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is being swapped out for a custom show by Letty B — who also hosts a show on Chicago Audacy station WBBM-FM — from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Andrews’ show will follow from 2 to 7 p.m.
According to an Audacy spokesman, Vaughn, who also has been assistant station manager and music director for Audacy in Milwaukee, is “no longer with the company.”
