Portage County voters will find these races on the fall 2026 ballot

STEVENS POINT − Voters in the Stevens Point area will participate in partisan elections this fall to choose a new governor and various other offices that carry out the work of local government and represent their interests in the state and federal governing bodies.

Candidates in the fall election must declare a political party and each party will choose one candidate with a primary election on Aug. 11, if needed. The general election between candidates of different parties will be held on Nov. 3.

Candidates may declare their intention to run up to noon on the Friday prior to the election, but the deadline to turn in nomination papers, declarations of candidacy and campaign registration statements for their name to appear on the ballot is June 1. Candidates who miss this deadline may still register as “write-in” candidates until Oct. 30.
