Plymouth man charged in Sheboygan County child sexual assault case

SHEBOYGAN – A Plymouth man is facing two felony charges alleging he sexually assaulted a child, according to records filed in Sheboygan County Circuit Court.

Christopher Rentmeester, 45, was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child. The charges are separate from a federal charge of production of child pornography filed June 2 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

According to a June 8 news release from the Plymouth Police Department, the state case stems from a joint investigation by the Plymouth Police Department, Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, FBI and prosecutors.

“Authorities continue to emphasize their commitment to protecting children, supporting victims and pursuing criminal accountability when evidence supports prosecution,” the release said.

Online court records show Rentmeester is next due in court for a status conference at 1 p.m. July 8. Judge Rebecca Persick is presiding in the case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rosario Perez-Guerra.
