Packers signing Virginia Tech QB Kyron Drones as UDFA following 2026 draft

The Green Bay Packers are signing Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL draft, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Drones, a 32-game starter for Virginia Tech, took a pre-draft visit to Green Bay. He was one of two quarterbacks hosted by the Packers before the 2026 draft, joining Behren Morton, who was drafted by the New England Patriots in the seventh round.

Drones will join a quarterback room in Green Bay featuring starter Jordan Love and backups Desmond Ridder, a 2022 draft pick with 18 career starts, and Kyle McCord, a 2025 draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Drones (6-1, 226) completed 58.3 percent of his passes, threw 45 touchdown passes and 19 interceptions and rushed for 1,847 yards and 22 touchdowns. Drones was a team captain for Virginia Tech in both 2024 and 2025. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.62 seconds.

The Packers are attempting to replace Malik Willis at quarterback behind Love. Willis, who revived his career in Green Bay over the last two seasons, signed with the Miami Dolphins in free agency.
