The No. 8 Florida State Seminoles will play the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday, and it is nearly time for the first pitch at the Sunken Diamond in Stanford, California.
The Seminoles are looking to even the series after losing 4-3 on Friday night, dropping them to 29-12 overall and 12-7 in ACC play. The loss snapped their four-game winning streak as their struggles to score have continued since Myles Bailey’s season-ending injury.
FSU had a 3-0 lead in the third inning, but they were unable to score over the final six innings. While they out-hit Stanford 7-5, they struckout eight times and walked just twice. Hunter Carns and Brody DeLamielleure both had two hits

Stanford scored all four of their runs in the fifth inning. FSU ace Wes Mendes has not allowed a hit through the first four innings before a one-out walk and a single started the rally. Another walk loaded the bases before a ground-rule double and a single gave Stanford a 4-3 lead.
FSU now leads the all-time series against Stanford 11-10, but is 3-5 on the road. This is their first-ever meeting as ACC rivals and first since 2012, when the Seminoles swept them in the Tallahassee Super Regional to advance to the College World Series.

End 4: Stanford 6, FSU 4
The Cardinal took a lead on a costly mistake by Brody DeLamielluere on a line drive at him, allowing two runs to score. Stanford has scored two runs in every inning since the first, scoring four unearned runs on two FSU errors.
Stanford takes the lead on costly error
The Cardinal are backup 6-4 after Brody DeLamielluere made an error on a line drive hit right at him in right that he never got a glove on, allowing two runs to score and the batter to make it to third with one out. Only two of Stanford’s runs are earned.
FSU goes down in order
The Seminoles were unable to respond to Stanford’s home run, going down in order in the third inning. All three of FSU’s hits came in the third inning.
End 3: FSU 4, Stanford 4
The game is all tied up after FSU scored three runs in the top of the inning and Stanford responded with two unearned runs. Trey Bears has given up four hits and struckout six batters on 61 pitches.
Stanford ties the game
FSU was not ahead for long as Stanford tied the game at 4-4 in the third with a two-run homer, their second of the game. Trey Beard should have had a perfect inning, but Gabe Fraser made an error on a ground ball, extending the inning, and Stanford’s Teddy Tokheim made them pay.
Florida State adds on
Nathan Cmeyla kept it going for FSU, scoring Huner Carns with a sacrifice fly to make it a 4-2 game before Gabe Fraser flew out to end the third inning. The Seminoles scored all four runs in the inning on three hits, an error, and a wild pitch.
Hunter Carns gives FSU the lead
The Seminoles have taken their first lead of the game thanks to an RBI double from Hunter Carns, driving in Brody DeLamielluere, who also doubled. Four straight batters have reached, and Stanford is making a pitching change with FSU up 3-2 in the third inning with one out.
FSU ties Stanford
Florida State has tied the game against Stanford with a one-out double from Brody DeLamielluere, who scored Chase Williams after his RBI single and a stolen base. Both of FSU’s hits have come this inning and they have a chance to take the lead with one out and a runner in scoring position.
FSU is on the board
The Seminoles have made it a 2-1 game in the top of the third inning thanks to an RBI single from Chase Williams. He drove in Eli Putnam, who started the inning with a swinging bunt and made it to second on a throwing error.
End 2: Stanford 2, FSU 0
Trey Beard was able to settle in after the home run, striking out the next two batters to end the inning. He has allowed three hits through two innings with five strikeouts and thrown 41 pitches.
Stanford hits a home run
The Cardinal have taken a 2-0 lead in the second inning with a two-run home run from Brady Reynolds. They already have three hits, and FSU has yet to get one.
FSU strands a runner
The Seminoles got a base runner in the second when Gabe Fraser worked a one-out walk, but he was stranded as Kelvyn Paulino Jr. and John Stuetzer both struckout to end the inning. FSU has already struckout four times in two innings.
FSU escapes the jam
Trey Beard and FSU were able to keep it a 0-0 game despite Stanford having two runners on and nobody out. Trey Beard struckout Stanford’s Rintaro Sassaki before another strikeout and a caught stealing ended the inning.
Stanford is threatening
Trey Beard has found some trouble to start the game, with a leadoff walk and single putting runners at the corners with nobody out in the bottom of the first inning.
FSU goes down in order
The Seminoles could not make anything happen in the first inning, going down in order with two strikeouts. The only ball put into play was a weak grounder by Brody DeLamielleure.
