Despite finishing sixth to end the 2024 season and then upgrading at least one starting spot in free agency and using a second-round pick on an offensive lineman during the offseason, the Green Bay Packers fell to No. 14 in PFF’s rankings of NFL offensive lines entering the 2025 season.
Zoltan Buday of PFF said the Packers have a “wide range of outcomes” for the offensive line.
But it’s hard to imagine an offensive line that was one of the best in 2024 falling into league average range without an injury-related derailment in 2025.
The Packers signed left guard Aaron Banks, who is — at the very least — a league average starter at guard, and let Josh Myers — one of the lowest graded starting centers over the last three years — depart in free agency. Elgton Jenkins is expected to move inside to center, a position he’s played at a high level in the past, so the Packers could enjoy a fairly significant upgrade at the two positions overall in 2025.
Throw in Jordan Morgan, a 2024 first-round pick who will push to start at left tackle and left guard, and 2025 second-round pick Anthony Belton, who the Packers think can play tackle and guard, and the Packers are both more talented and far deeper along the offensive line entering 2025 compared to the end of 2024.
Also, consider that Rasheed Walker and Sean Rhyan are entering important contract years, and the competition provided by Morgan and Belton should push both fourth-year players to play their best football in 2025.
Buday pointed to right tackle Zach Tom as the line’s best player, and his elite grade — ranking sixth among offensive tackles in 2024 — highlights why. He’s become a cornerstone player up front for the Packers and will likely get a new, lucrative deal ahead of the 2025 season.
The Packers actually ended up as the worst-ranked offensive line in the NFC North, trailing the Chicago Bears (4th), Minnesota Vikings (7th) and Detroit Lions (13th). The Bears and Vikings both made big investments up front in free agency and the draft and rank as two of the most improved teams along the offensive line, while the Lions could be in line for a regression after losing center Frank Ragnow and guard Kevin Zeitler.
