STEVENS POINT − A fire inspection report done by the Stevens Point Fire Department at University Inn & Suites, 5110 Main St., a day before the department ordered the property vacated shows a wide range of violations.
Blocked exits, exposed openings in walls and ceilings, missing fire doors and out-of-date smoke detectors are among the violations found at the University Inn, according to the report, which the Stevens Point Journal requested from the Fire Department.
The Stevens Point Fire Department ordered the University Inn vacated by 4 p.m. Jan. 8. The department inspected the property on Jan. 7, and the inspection report states it will re-inspect it on or after Feb. 6.
The Legacy Restaurant, which is on the property, was not impacted by the order and remains open, according to an earlier news release. The restaurant is up to code and does not present any safety concerns, the release said.
