A Milwaukee County courthouse security guard was killed in a shooting May 8 on the city’s north side, according to authorities.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Dennis Johnson, a longtime Sheriff’s Office employee.
“Every senseless killing is a tragedy,” Sheriff Denita Ball said in a statement. However, because [Public Safety Officer] Johnson was a member of our family, this one hits home.”
The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating the shooting, which took place shortly after 5 p.m. on the 3000 block of N. Teutonia Avenue. Police said a suspect fired several shots into a car, striking the 56-year-old victim.
