OSHKOSH — On Friday morning at Oshkosh North High School, Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton walked around the gym he once played in.
Campers at his second annual CareSource Tyrese Haliburton Impact Camp, put on by ProCamp, dribbled and took shots.
Only this time there was something new, thanks to Haliburton.
New scoreboards featuring his logo and a video board with pictures of Haliburton and highlights from when Oshkosh North won the state championship in 2018.
“These scoreboards were part of the big donation that I’ve put forth towards the school and so to get back and see the brand new scoreboards, the video board that can do a bunch of different things. My logo is on the scoreboard over there. That’s really cool for me,” Haliburton said. “That’s very special to me and just cool to see those things here and I can’t wait to see what they do with it as they get into the season.”
The donation is for $3 million dollars over the course of three years. The first phase of the donation is upgrading the weight room, the new scoreboards/video board and the signage for the Frank Schade Fieldhouse.
“Tyrese has always stayed connected with the community, the school, our program and do for him, he’s always looking to do good and for the financial situation of it I think it’s just another example of his commitment and his love of Oshkosh North, the community of Oshkosh,” Oshkosh North boys basketball coach Brad Weber said. “Obviously budget problems are very real for all schools so when you have somebody who’s able to help make the current students and players feel special it just makes a huge difference.”
