LA CROSSE — The WIAA state track and field championships wrapped up on Saturday, June 6 and a number of Oshkosh and Fond du Lac area athletes were in action at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.
Here’s a look at the Oshkosh, Fond du Lac athletes that won a state medal.
Division 1
Oshkosh West had two girls medal in track events as Sydnee Nelson won her third straight state title in the 100-meter hurdles (13.94). Kylie Triebold took third in the 400 meters (55.99).
Oshkosh West’s Kayana Turner took third in the triple jump (37-3), while Emma Liebergen took fourth (36-11).
Oshkosh West’s 4×400-meter relay (3:19.29) team of Alex Dedecker, Carson Choinski, Noah Cardinal and Carter Crowe took third.
Fond du Lac’s Tyvon Pate took second in the shot put (56-1).
Division 2
Winneconne’s Hudson Samolinski finished second in the discus (173-10), while Winnebago Lutheran’s Orville Blohm took fifth (162-9). Samolinski took first in the shot put (61-2 3/4).
Berlin’s Thomas McCarthy took fourth in the 3,200 meters (9:10.90) and Campbellsport’s Garrett Pickering took fifth (9:17.05).
Omro’s Lucas Kasuboski took second in the 800 meters (1:53.95).
Berlin’s Selci Sirrell took first in the triple jump (38-8), second in the 100-meter hurdles (14.29) and second in the 300-meter hurdles (44.35).
North Fond du Lac’s Sunjaya Greenlee took third in the 100 meters (12.05), fourth in the long jump (17-9 3/4), fourth in the 200 meters (24.90) and sixth in the 400 meters (58.16).
Winneconne had multiple boys medal in track events. Grant Wenzelow took first in the 800 meters (1:53.43) and second in the 1,600 meters (4:14.41). Brody Schaffer took third in the 100 meters (10.87). He also took second in the long jump (22-9 1/2). The 4×200-meter relay (1:28.38) team of Mason Mathe, Koltyn Kachur, Bryce Jones and Brody Schaffer took fourth. The 4×400-meter relay (3:22.55) team of Luke Fuller, Logan Wolf, Koltyn Kachur and Grant Wenzelow took third.
Winneconne’s Trey Zemke took first in the pole vault (15-0) and Winnebago Lutheran’s Cole Keifenheim took sixth (13-6).
Winneconne’s Carlee Hart tied for fifth in the pole vault (11-0).
Division 3
Lourdes Academy’s Mat Yaggie took fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (40.38).
Central Wisconsin Christian’s Dylan Buwalda took sixth in the triple jump (43-10 1/2).
