Oshkosh fire kills multiple pets at Mt. Vernon Street home

OSHKOSH – Multiple pets perished Wednesday, April 29, in a fire that tore through a two-story, wood-framed home on Mt. Vernon Street in Oshkosh, the Oshkosh Fire Department said.

Fire crews were dispatched about 5:54 p.m. to the 1700 block of Mt. Vernon Street, where they found flames showing on all four sides of the house, the department said.

No one was home when the fire started, authorities said.

Crews remained on the scene as of 9:10 p.m. Wednesday. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
