All property, excluding real estate, owned by the now-defunct anti-poverty nonprofit Newcap will be auctioned off by the end of August through Titletown Auction Company, according to a May 21 company news release.
Newcap, which served 10 counties across northern Wisconsin, filed for bankruptcy on April 15 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Eastern Wisconsin, about two weeks after the nonprofit shuttered its doors following financial challenges and ethical concerns over its operations. Tax records show the nonprofit saw over $2 million in deficits in both 2023 and 2024, the largest losses the nonprofit had seen since at least 2001.
The auction company said it will sell off all Newcap’s assets that are not real estate through a series of online auctions. Bankruptcy documents show Newcap held over $146,000 worth of assets categorized as “inventory,” $20,000 of office furniture and equipment, and $157,000 of machinery and vehicles.
As of 5 p.m. May 21, no auction for Newcap inventory was yet available on the Titletown Auction Company’s website. The company said it would release further auction and bidding information “in the coming weeks.”
In May 2025, the auction company collected over 480 items from the remnants of the 2025 NFL draft to then sell and donate the proceeds to American Red Cross Wisconsin Northeast Chapter.
