Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” isn’t about the late summer days getting shorter – but, based on the title, it could be.
Milwaukee has reached summer’s cruelest stretch, when the sun starts to set earlier each day. On Monday, Aug. 10, the sunset in Milwaukee will happen at 8:01 p.m., and that’s the last sunset after 8 p.m. until May 8, 2027, according to website timeanddate.com.
The sun is rising later too, cutting the total amount of daylight hours Milwaukee gets each day. Two months ago, from June 12 to 17, the sun was rising about 5:11 a.m., but the sunrise on Tuesday, Aug. 11 will happen about 5:53 a.m., the website says.
When will the sun set before 6 p.m.?
If a sunset before 8 p.m. wasn’t bad enough, just wait another month or two. By Sept. 16, Milwaukee will have its first sunset before 7 p.m., and by Oct. 21, the sun will go down before 6 p.m.
That all leads up to daylight saving time on Nov. 1, when clocks fall back and the city’s first sunset before 5 p.m. takes place.
