Milwaukee police seek tips in north side crash that killed 2 pedestrians

Milwaukee police need the public’s help finding a damaged SUV they believe was involved in a crash that took the lives of two pedestrians.

Police on July 14 released a stock image of a black 2007-2014 GMC Yukon they believe is similar to the vehicle that struck and killed May Daiber, 48, of Wausau, and Amy Austin, 49, of Milwaukee, on July 12.

The incident occurred around 11:12 p.m. on the 3800 block of North Teutonia Avenue, when a black SUV traveling “at a high rate of speed” fatally struck the women.

The medical examiner’s office said Daiber and Austin were attempting to cross the road outside of Shananigans, a bar at 3751 N. Teutonia Ave., when they were hit by two racing vehicles.

Both vehicles fled the scene.

In a statement, Milwaukee police said the Yukon had unknown registration plates. They believe the vehicle will likely have damage to the front grill, bumper, passenger side headlight, and missing the front “GMC” grill emblem.

Police said the suspect vehicle was last seen traveling southeast from the 3700 block of North Teutonia Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to contact MPD at 414-935-7360.
