MANITOWOC – Manitowoc Public School District has hired a new leader to oversee special education and student support services.
Dr. Yvette Marshall will become the district’s director of student services after serving as superintendent and director of pupil services for the Tigerton School District in Shawano County.
In the role, Marshall will help lead services that support students with disabilities, learning needs and other challenges that can affect their success in school.
“I look forward to partnering with our students, families, staff and community to provide a high-quality, student-centered education that empowers every learner to reach their full potential while ensuring all students are supported, challenged and prepared for future success,” Marshall said in an MPSD news release July 28.
New Manitowoc student services director will focus on student support
The Manitowoc School Board approved Marshall’s employment during its July 27 meeting.
Marshall’s credentials include National Board Certification as a teacher in exceptional needs and Wisconsin licenses as a district administrator, director of special education and pupil services, director of instruction and program supervisor, principal and early childhood special education teacher.
“Throughout her career, Marshall has led work involving special education programming, student support services, staff development, compliance, strategic planning, and family and community engagement,” the release said.
Marshall brings special education and district leadership experience
She most recently served as superintendent and director of pupil services for the Tigerton School District in Shawano County. Before that, she was director of pupil services for Gibraltar Area Schools in Door County, a district-level administrator and an early childhood special education teacher.
Marshall earned a doctorate in educational leadership and policy from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She also holds an education specialist degree in educational leadership from Concordia University, a master’s degree in communication from Auburn University and a bachelor’s degree in communication and sociology from Carroll University.
When does the 2026-27 school year start in Manitowoc?
Manitowoc Public School District’s 2026-27 school year begins Sept. 1 with a transition day for students in kindergarten through ninth grade and new Lincoln High School students. The first day for all K-12 students is Sept. 2, while 4K, transitional kindergarten and early childhood students start Sept. 8.
