Man arrested in Racine after toddler dies from head trauma, police say

A 28-year-old Racine man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 22-month-old boy, according to Racine police.

Police arrested the live-in boyfriend of the child’s mother May 28 for first-degree reckless homicide in the death of Joriel Ramirez-Rodriguez.

On May 18, Children’s Hospital contacted police to report suspected child abuse. The boy was brought to Ascencion All Saints Hospital in Racine and then life-flighted to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee with significant head trauma.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the boy died of his injuries on May 27.

Racine police is seeking the public’s help in obtaining additional information anyone may have about this incident.
