How much snow did southern Wisconsin get overnight? See a list.

Parts of southern Wisconsin got nearly five inches of snow overnight, adding to the heaps already on the ground – and more is on the way.

Fluffy snow fell as quickly as one inch per hour before tapering off in southeastern Wisconsin around 8 a.m.

Snow on highways, several crashes in Milwaukee County

Be cautious on the roads this morning, and give yourself plenty of time to travel.

Wisconsin’s 511 road conditions map shows some highways in southeast Wisconsin are partially covered with snow. Highways closer to the Illinois border may be completely covered.

The map shows at least four crashes on highways near Milwaukee this morning. A semi crash near Janesville temporarily closed the left two lanes of Interstate 39/90 at Highway 14 southbound.

Milwaukee DPW says they’re clearing main roads first

Crews from the Milwaukee Department of Public Works have been out since last night and are tackling main streets first.

Once main roads are clear, crews will transition to side streets. New teams are taking over this morning, and crews will be out until all streets are safe, DPW spokesman Tiffany Shepherd said.

The storm did not cause widespread power outages in the Milwaukee area. As of 8:30 a.m., We Energies’ map showed only one outage near Oak Creek that affected seven customers.

When is Wisconsin getting snow next?

Light snow is also possible Monday night, kicking off a week in which every day has at least some chance of snow.

The National Weather Service is monitoring another storm system expected to move in Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

The forecast could change depending on where the storm tracks, NWS meteorologist Mark Gehring said.

“For the most part, though, it does look like central and northern Wisconsin would take the brunt of it,” he said.

Mixed precipitation is likely with that system, Gehring said. Tuesday night in Milwaukee will hover just around 31 degrees.
