How Bucks fans on social media are reacting to the Giannis trade

Milwaukee Bucks fans have been forced to listen to Giannis Antetokounmpo trade speculation for far, far too long.

So while Monday, June 22, 2026, was truly the end of an era and a sad night for many, the fact that Antetokounmpo will finally be traded to the Miami Heat in a package that includes three first-round draft picks and Greenfield native Tyler Herro, the actual move certainly wasn’t a shock to Bucks Nation.

Perhaps the almost daily ad nauseum banter from national media over the years of Antetokounmpo eventually leaving Milwaukee for a bigger market despite showing loyalty to the franchise by signing multiple contract extensions prepared them for Giannis’ summer exit after 13 mostly glorious years with the Bucks.

After it was reported that the Bucks and the Heat had reached an agreement on a trade late Monday night, most Bucks fans that posted immediate reactions didn’t rant or appear angry. Many Giannis supporters typed various quick digital forms of gratitude to the global superstar. Thank you notes for the many outstanding memories Antetokounmpo provided, including an NBA championship in 2021.

Others appeared pleased with the Bucks’ return in the trade that included Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware and Kasparas Jakučionis in addition to the draft picks.

Here’s a sample of Bucks and NBA posters bidding adieu to Giannis’ time in Milwaukee:
