The Green Bay area has a reputation for paper, trucking and food production, but health care companies remain the largest local employers in 2025.
The Green Bay area’s 15 largest employers include four health care providers who combined employ almost 11,000 people in Brown County, according to 2025 Community Snapshot published by the Greater Green Bay Chamber.
Add in the 4,900 employees between the two health insurance companies in the top 15 and you’ve got about 8.2% of the estimated 182,700 working people in the Green Bay metro area, which includes Brown, Oconto and Kewaunee counties.
Several other industries with significant presences the Green Bay area saw multiple companies crack the top 15. Here’s the list, plus a few observations and notes.
