An officer-involved death investigation is underway in Green Bay after a suspect was killed following an incident with police Aug. 21.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice said at around 3:09 p.m., Green Bay police officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Boland Road for a welfare check. When officers arrived, the subject pulled out a firearm, prompting three officers to discharge their weapons.
The subject was struck by police gunfire. Emergency crews were called and life-saving measures were rendered on the subject, and the subject was transported to a local hospital where they later died.
No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.
The Wisconsin DOJ said the involved officers were wearing body cameras during the shooting and will be placed on administrative leave per policy. All involved officers are fully cooperating with DCI during the investigation.
DCI is leading the investigation and will be assisted by a DCI Crime Response Specialist, Wisconsin State Patrol, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Green Bay Metro Fire Department.
“Any time there’s an incident like this, it is a long, detailed process because it’s important for us to get the answers about what happened,” Green Bay Police Chief Davis said during an afternoon Aug. 21 press conference.
