Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love completed 5-of-7 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown during his one and only drive against the starting defense of the Denver Broncos during Friday night’s preseason matchup at Empower Field at Mile High.
Love completed a pair of passes to Christian Watson, hit Matthew Golden for 19 yards to convert on fourth down and found MarShawn Lloyd for an 11-yard touchdown pass to convert 3rd-and-3 inside the red zone.
After running a successful opening drive, which needed 12 plays and took up almost seven minutes of the first quarter clock, Love’s night was over. Consider it a perfect night: Love got a bunch of live work against an excellent defense, and his one series ended in seven points.
Watch Love’s five completions from the opening drive below:
Love’s opening completion was a strike on a slant to Watson. Later, on 4th-and-1, Love bought time to allow Golden to open up on a crosser, and he fit the throw into a small window to convert. Twice, Love successfully hit difficult throws on bootlegs. He easily found Lloyd on a choice route for the touchdown pass.
Love’s passer rating on the night was 134.5.
Love has played two series this preseason. He led the Packers to points on both possessions. Given he’s scheduled to participate in the joint practice next Wednesday, Love is likely to sit out the Packers’ preseason finale next week, meaning his exhibition slate is over. Up next: Brian Flores and the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 13.
