The Green Bay Packers will get a shot at beating the defending NFC North champion Detroit Lions in Week 1, according to a report from Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz.
The Sunday, Sept. 7, game is scheduled for a 3:25 p.m. Central start.

The Packers haven’t opened the season against the Lions since 2005 and haven’t opened the season at home against them since 2001.
The Lions have won six of the seven last meetings between the teams, including both games in 2024 (24-14 at home in Week 9 and 34-31 in Detroit in Week 13). The Lions won the NFC North with a 15-2 record, four games ahead of the third-place Packers (11-6).
Both the Lions and the Packers lost in the first round of the playoffs. The Lions lost at home, 45-31, to the Washington Commanders, and the Packers lost on the road to eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia, 22-10.
The Lions lost their offensive and defensive coordinators from last season. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is now the head coach of the Chicago Bears and Aaron Glenn is the head coach of the New York Jets.
The opener is part of the Green ticket package.
The Packers also will play at Detroit on Thanksgiving in a noon game Nov. 27.
