GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers are adding a player to the roster who’s had to overcome adversity far greater than anything in the game of football.
The Packers announced the signing of cornerback Marlon Jones, in a May 19 news release.
Jones, a 6-foot, 190-pounder, is an undrafted rookie who started his college career at Eastern Michigan, playing from 2019-23, where he was one of the best cornerbacks on the FCS level as a multi-time all-conference selection.
Before Jones could transition to the FBS level and compete against higher competition, he was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, forcing him to miss the entire 2024 season.
Jones, in full remission, returned for the 2025 season to play for Vanderbilt, appearing in nine games and recorded nine tackles. Overall, he played in 51 games with 30 starts, recording 168 tackles (95 solo), nine interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), seven tackles for a loss, a sack, 23 passes defended and a forced fumble.
With no invitation to the NFL scouting combine, Jones put up strong numbers at Vanderbilt’s pro day in March with a 4.5-second 40-yard dash, a 39-inch vertical jump, a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.44, and a 10-foot-6 broad jump.
Jones will wear No. 46 for the Packers.
