A Green Bay man pleaded to reduced charges July 15 in the fatal 2024 shooting of Brandon Ramirez, becoming the third of five charged suspects to be convicted in the case.
Dion Richardson, 20, pleaded no contest to first-degree reckless homicide as a party to a crime with a dangerous weapon and bail jumping, both felonies. The homicide charge was reduced from first-degree intentional homicide and additional charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and obstructing an officer were dismissed through a plea agreement.
Richardson is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 4. He faces up to 48 years in prison.
Ramirez, 21, died Aug. 9, 2024, from a gunshot wound to the head. He was dropped off at a hospital on Aug. 7, 2024, following a shooting in the 1200 block of Berner Street. Prosecutors said the shooting occurred inside of a car during a drug-deal-robbery, according to criminal complaints.
Elijah White, 20; Nigel White, 23; and Darian Pinchart, 20, all of Green Bay, were also charged with first-degree intentional homicide, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and resisting or obstructing an officer in Ramirez’s death. Rosemary Williams, 19, of Kewaunee, was charged with felony murder as a party to a crime, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and resisting or obstructing an officer.
Prosecutors have since reduced the first-degree intentional homicide charge against Nigel White to felony murder as a party to a crime, according to court records. Nigel White also faces four bail jumping charges.
Pinchart pleaded no contest March 27 to felony murder as a party to a crime and possessing a firearm as an adjudicated delinquent. He was sentenced June 15 to 15 years in prison followed by 10 years on extended supervision.
Elijah White pleaded no contest June 19 to felony murder as a party to a crime, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, both felonies, and resisting an officer, a misdemeanor. He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 18.
In interviews with investigators, the suspects gave differing accounts of the incident, the complaints showed. Richardson changed his story multiple times while speaking to detectives in September 2024, first denying any involvement in the shooting before admitting he was present, the complaints said.
In September, Richardson said Ramirez pointed a gun at Richardson and the gun went off as the men “tussled” over it, striking Ramirez, the complaints said.
In an October interview, Richardson told police that Ramirez pulled a gun on him in the car and Richardson pulled out his own gun and shot Ramirez because he feared for his life, the complaints said.
Ramirez’s girlfriend, who was in the car at the time of the shooting, identified Richardson as the shooter. Richardson’s phone was found in the backseat of the car and his fingerprints were found on exterior of the back passenger window on the driver’s side.
Nigel White is scheduled to stand trial beginning Aug. 5. Williams returns to court Aug. 24 for a status conference.
