80-year-old Canadian man dead after two-vehicle crash in Sturgeon Bay

An 80-year-old man from British Columbia, Canada, is dead after a two-vehicle crash the afternoon of July 14 in Sturgeon Bay.

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department was called to the crash on State 42/57 between Michigan and Alabama streets at 1:31 p.m., according to a news release the department posted to its website and Facebook page.

An initial investigation showed the vehicle driven by the man was heading north on 42/57 when it crossed into the southbound lanes of the highway and crashed into a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Sturgeon Bay woman.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Aurora BayCare Center in Green Bay, where the man was pronounced dead and the woman was treated and released. Neither vehicle had other passengers.

The names of the drivers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin as of July 15. The investigation into the incident is continuing.

Responding to the incident along with the police department were emergency personnel from the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department, Door County Sheriff’s Office and Door County Emergency Services.
