MADISON – Emma Cunningham of Green Bay United finished second at the WIAA Division 1 state girls golf championship Oct. 14 at University Ridge Golf Course.

Cunningham shot a two-day total of 2-under-par 142 to finish 10 strokes behind champion Payton Haugen of Brookfield East, who broke the tournament record for low score with a 12-under-par 132.

Cunningham, a junior, tied for 11th last year and tied for 12th in 2023.

The state title is the first for Haugen, who finished second last year after losing in a playoff and also finished second in 2023. She finished seventh as a freshman in 2022.

In the Division 1 team standings, Divine Savior Holy Angels took the title with a two-day total of 621. It was the third state title in a row for DSHA.

Bay Port finished sixth with a score of 667, while Hortonville was ninth with a 734 total.

Madelyn Gicius tied for 11th place to lead Bay Port with a two-day score of 154.

Olivia Kernen led Hortonville with a two-day score of 180.

Spooner won the team title in Division 2 with a two-day score of 694, two shots better than Edgerton. Seymour was 49 strokes behind Spooner in fourth place.

Belle Kongshaug of Colfax/Elk Mound took medalist honors for the third year in a row in Division 2 with a two-day total of 148.

Seymour’s Morgan Lewis was the top area finisher with a score of 169 to tie for eighth place.

SUAMICO – The Pirates clinched at least a share of the Fox River Classic Conference title with a 25-13, 25-16, 22-25, 25-22 win over the Redbirds.

The win moves Bay Port to 22-7 overall and 8-0 in the conference.

Pirates leaders include Meghan Bruss with 48 assists, three aces and 14 digs, Alexia Stephans with 18 kills, five aces and 16 digs, Taylor Neuenschwander with 16 kills and four blocks, Taylor Russell with 18 digs, and Madison Lebeau with 12 digs and five aces.

West De Pere 3, Pulaski 1

DE PERE – The Phantoms downed the Red Raiders 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 25-19 in Fox River Classic Conference action.

Luxemburg-Casco 3, Waupaca 2

WAUPACA -The Spartans prevailed in five sets 25-23, 25-20, 14-25, 24-26, 15-5 in a North Eastern Conference match.

Alayna Deprez had a double-double for Luxemburg-Casco with 44 assists and 12 digs. Aubrey Frey also had a double-double with 29 kills and 11 digs. Rylan Kaminski and Danica Bartels had 15 and 11 digs, respectively, for Luxemburg-Casco, which is 29-10 overall and 7-1 in the North Eastern Conference.

“They came out of the gates ready and kicked us in the teeth in those first two sets,” Spartans coach Jeff Frey said. “This was a great opportunity for our girls to play in an intense environment with some adversity, as our regional is absolutely stacked, and I loved the way we responded. I could not be more proud of the way our team played with our backs against the wall and the grit we showed.”

Oconto Falls 3, Marinette 0

OCONTO FALLS – The Panthers finished second in North Eastern Conference play at 6-2 with a 25-8, 25-7, 25-12 win over the Marines.

Stat leaders for Oconto Falls were Izzy Otto with 19 assists and four aces, Lucy Ripley with 10 kills, Brylee Gorman with five kills and Rylie Shallow with eight digs.

Xavier 3, Green Bay West 0

APPLETON – The Hawks cruised past the Wildcats in Bay Conference action 25-8, 25-10, 25-15.

Leading the way for Xavier were Sydney Neilitz with four kills and 13 assists, Raya Zurfluh with four aces, Braelee Kiepert with six kills, Lexi Allen with four aces and three kills, Rose Kendall with three kills, Bella Velasquez with three aces, Allie Gioffredi with six kills and two blocks, Taelyn Kiepert with two kills and two aces, and Bella Daley with three kills.

Fox Valley Lutheran 3, Green Bay East 0

APPLETON – The Foxes swept the Red Devils 25-13, 25-4, 25-11 to stay in first place in the Bay Conference.

Riley Schmitz led Fox Valley Lutheran with 11 digs and had five aces. Alaina Patchett had seven kills. Kenzie Loberger had four kills and four aces, and Emily Matthias had four kills and four digs.

Little Chute 3, Wrightstown 1

LITTLE CHUTE – The Mustangs outlasted the Tigers in North Eastern Conference action 27-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-23.

Gillett 3, Coleman 0

GILLETT – The Tigers outlasted the Cougars 25-22, 25-17, 25-20 in Marinette & Oconto Conference action.

Leading Coleman statistically were Alayna Gilbertson with six kills and five digs, Kailyn Hanrahan with five digs and two assists, Hailey Rosner with four digs, Makenna Slaski with three kills, two digs and two blocks, Kendal Truckey with seven digs and two aces, Ella Van Ermen with 11 assists, two aces and two digs, and Ava Zeitler with five aces, four blocks, four digs and four kills.

Crivitz 3, St. Thomas Aquinas 0

MARINETTE – The Wolverines cruised to a 25-11, 25-13, 25-20 win over the Cavaliers in Marinette & Oconto Conference action.

Leading the way for Crivitz were Addi Rehberg with 17 assists and two kills, Hattie Frievalt with five assists, Haili Dorschner with 11 assists and three aces, Taryn Tracy with 11 digs and two aces, Kiya Brand with 10 digs and five kills, and Marli Meyers with 12 kills and six digs.

Brecken Ott added seven kills, four digs and three aces, and Peyton Rehberg had five kills, four aces and three digs.

NEW Lutheran 3, Kewaunee 1

GREEN BAY – The Blazers defeated the Storm 15-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 on Senior Night.

Sydney Steffel and Kiley Dhein both had double-doubles for NEW Lutheran. Steffel had 16 digs and 13 kills, while Dhein had 31 digs and 10 kills. Olivia Kirchner had a team-high 38 assists and Jaden Schmidt led in digs with 34.

Peshtigo 3, Algoma 0

PESHTIGO – The Bulldogs wasted little time in disposing of the Wolves 25-13, 25-14, 25-9 in Packerland Conference play.

Sturgeon Bay 3, Sevastopol 0

STURGEON BAY – The Clippers cruised past the Pioneers 25-15, 25-19, 25-20 to earn the Packerland Conference win.

BOYS SOCCER

De Pere 8, Ashwaubenon 0

DE PERE – The Redbirds kept the unbeaten conference record intact and clinched at least a share of the conference title with the win over the Jaguars.

De Pere is now 7-0-2 in the Fox River Classic Conference and 11-3-2 overall.

Ashwaubenon is winless in conference at 0-8 and is 6-14 overall.

Bay Port 2, Notre Dame 2

GREEN BAY – The Pirates and Tritons both stand at 5-1-2 in the Fox River Classic Conference after the teams battled to a draw.

Bay Port, which got goals from Nicholas Wood and Grady Volmert, is now 13-2-3 overall. Beau Wendricks had two assists.

Notre Dame is 10-4-3 overall.

Pulaski 1, Green Bay Southwest 1

GREEN BAY – The Trojans got a goal in the first half from Brian Hernandez and the Red Raiders countered in the second half with a goal from Nolan Pratt to force a tie.

Owen Hanold had five saves in goal for Green Bay Southwest, which is 3-6-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the Fox River Classic Conference.

Jonah Drevs had three saves for Pulaski, which is 7-7-4 overall and 2-4-2 in conference.

Green Bay Preble 0, West De Pere 0

DE PERE – The Phantoms and Hornets played through regulation with neither team able to find the back of the net.

Green Bay Preble is 7-7-3 overall and 3-4-2 in conference.

West De Pere is 8-7-2 overall and 2-5-1 in conference.

Clintonville 3, Denmark 3

DENMARK – The Vikings got a pair of goals from James Nellis and one from Landin Thiem as they battled the Truckers to a draw.

Nellis, Lincoln Arneson and Steven Yang each had an assist for Denmark.

Kaleb Whitwam had 10 saves for Denmark, which is now 7-7-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the North Eastern Conference.

Clintonville slips to 6-8-3 overall and 2-3-2 in conference play.

Luxemburg-Casco 8, Little Chute 1

LUXEMBURG – The Spartans rolled to a 5-1 halftime lead in their win over the Mustangs.

Luxemburg-Casco is 6-9-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the North Eastern Conference.

Little Chute, which is 0-7 in league play and 2-12 overall, got its goal from Shaymus Smith. Declan Falk had seven saves in goal for the Mustangs.

Marinette 3, Wrightstown 1

WRIGHTSTOWN – The Marines remained unbeaten in the North Eastern Conference with the win over the Tigers.

Marinette is 6-0-1 in conference play and 9-4-2 overall.

Wrightstown drops to 3-2-2 in conference and 5-9-3 overall.

Kohler 9, Green Bay West 0

KOHLER – The Blue Bombers scored all nine goals in the first half en route to the nonconference win.
