Grand Chute teacher charged with sexual misconduct, assault of student

A Menasha woman was charged May 26 with sexual assault of a child and sexual misconduct by school staff after a Grand Chute private school alerted police to a “weird” letter addressed to a student.

Who is charged?

Keisha Stuart, 31, of Menasha.

According to a news release from the Menasha Police Department, Stuart was a teacher at Fundamentals School in Grand Chute. Fundamentals is a private school that serves students in grades 2 through 12 with special education needs, according to its website and social media pages. The school has locations in Grand Chute, Green Bay, Oshkosh and Wausau.

“Fundamentals offers programming for youth in need of support due to emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges that occur in school, at home, or in the community,” the school’s Facebook page says.

The Post-Crescent has reached out to Fundamentals for comment and to confirm the status of Stuart’s employment.

Stuart made her initial appearance in court May 26, where her bail was set at $40,000, according to court records. Stuart remains in custody at the Winnebago County Jail, according to jail records.

Stuart is scheduled to return to court June 4 for further proceedings.
