Boswell Book Company

Boswell Book Company, located on Milwaukee’s east side, is home to three store-run book clubs that are free and open to the public.

The bookstore runs a Lit book club, Sci-Fi book club and the Romance book club, which all meet once a month in person or via zoom on the following dates/times:

Current and upcoming book selections can be found on the store’s website, along with the Zoom links to join virtually.

Cactus Club

The Cactus Club’s book club aims to bring people together to discus ideas and issues, highlight the work of community partners and promote local independent bookstores and publishers.

Each month, a different business, community organization, collective or mutual aid group chooses a book and recommends a bookseller then leads that month’s discussion. The Cactus Book Club reads sociopolitical fiction and non-fiction, with a focus on works by women, LGBTQ+, BIPIC and/or otherwise under-published groups.

You don’t have to finish reading the book to attend. All book club meetings are free and no registration required. Attendees must be 18 or older.

November’s book selection is “The Ungrateful Refugee: What Immigrants Never Tell You” by Dina Nayeri. The next meeting is on Nov. 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the venue room at Cactus Club.

Milwaukee County Historical Society’s ‘Mil-book-ee’ book club

The “Mil-book-ee” Book Club meets every last Monday of the month from 6 to 7 p.m. and features historical non-fiction book slections and is free to join.

Additionally, MCHS has select collection items on display in relation to the book’s theme at every meeting, and light refreshments are also provided.
