A former Kaukauna private school teacher already charged with numerous felonies related to child pornography is now facing an additional 16 counts.
Collin Killoren, 30, of Shiocton, now faces a total of 30 charges: 13 counts of child sexual exploitation and 17 counts of possession of child pornography, all felonies. Killoren was originally charged with 14 felonies; the additional charges were filed June 26 in Calumet County Circuit Court.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges at his arraignment July 10.
Killoren taught seventh through 12th grades at St. Ignatius Catholic School in Kaukauna until his arrest in April. In an April news release, the school said no students at St. Ignatius, or its high school, Chesterton Academy, were identified as having any connection with the accusations against Killoren. The school placed Killoren on administrative leave immediately after his arrest.
What are the details of the accusations against Killoren?
According to the original criminal complaint, which was filed April 25 in Calumet County Circuit Court, Appleton police began looking into three cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about suspected child sexual abuse material. The tips were submitted to the center in June, July and November 2024 by MediaLab AI, which owns the messaging platform Kik.
Investigators linked two Kik accounts to Killoren through IP addresses and Verizon subscriber information, the complaint said.
In multiple chats, Killoren identified himself as a high school teacher and engaged in sexually explicit conversations involving child pornography, according to the complaint.
Investigators spoke to Killoren on April 23 at St. Ignatius School. While initially denying any involvement with child pornography, Killoren later in the conversation admitted to viewing it as recently as three months prior, the complaint says.
During a search of Killoren’s classroom and the Appleton home where he lived at the time, investigators found items that appeared to match items in images uploaded to Kik, according to the complaint.
Why were more charges added?
The additional 16 felony charges come from information investigators discovered from additional Kik accounts that were operated by Killoren.
According to the amended criminal complaint, investigators identified additional child pornography images and videos shared by Killoren’s accounts around summer and fall 2024.
What penalty could Killoren face if he’s convicted?
Each count of child sexual exploitation carries a maximum of 25 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision. Each count of possession of child pornography carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision.
If convicted, Killoren could also be fined up to $100,000 on each count.
When is his next court appearance?
Killoren has a status conference in Calumet County Circuit Court scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 12.
