Former Milwaukee Brewers designated hitter and soon-to-be Hall of Famer Dave Parker has passed away, it was announced June 28 by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The news comes one month before Parker, who was 74, will be enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Parker, best known as a feared slugger for the Pirates in the 1970s, spent one season with the Brewers toward the end of his 19-year career in 1990. He hit .289 with 21 home runs and was named an American League all-star with Milwaukee, the seventh and final appearance in the midsummer classic of his career.
Parker was a three-time Silver Slugger, three-time Gold Glove winner and was National League MVP in 1978.
