A Fond du Lac woman was sentenced May 22 to more than three decades in prison for the 2024 stabbing death of Ashley Ann Calo, a mother whose young child was in her car the night she was killed.
Annaka W. Trudell, 22, was convicted of first-degree reckless homicide and armed robbery about one year ago, on May 13, 2025. On May 22, 2026, Trudell received a sentence of 35 years of initial confinement and 20 years of extended supervision, according to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office.
In February 2024, Trudell and co-defendant Dawson Miller arranged to buy fentanyl pills from Calo for $250 but planned to rob her instead of paying, according to the criminal complaint.
Trudell stabbed Calo in a nearby parking lot. Calo drove away, but lost consciousness and crashed.
Her 3-year-old child was in the back seat and was not injured, according to the criminal complaint. Calo died later that evening at a hospital.
Miller was previously sentenced in December 2025 to 30 years of initial confinement and 15 years of extended supervision after a felony murder conviction in the same case.
District Attorney Eric J. Toney said in a statement the case illustrates the danger of illegal drug trafficking.
“Now a child will grow up without their mother,” Toney said.
