A vehicle crash in Fond du Lac County killed one child and injured three others July 22, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 3:09 p.m., the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a report of a single-vehicle crash involving a minivan on County V near Lime Road in the Town of Eden.
Deputies, along with the Eden Fire Department and EMS, responded to the scene and began treating the injured driver and passengers.
The driver, a 29-year-old Fond du Lac man, and two passengers ‒ an 8-year-old boy from Fond du Lac and a 15-year-old girl from Campbellsport ‒ were transported to SSM St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac for treatment of minor injuries.
An 11-year-old girl from North Fond du Lac was flown by ThedaStar Air Medical Helicopter to Children’s Wisconsin in Wauwatosa, but died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The minivan lost control northbound on County V
Investigators said the minivan was traveling north on County V when it lost control, crossed the centerline, entered the west ditch and struck an embankment. The vehicle became airborne, rolled several times and came to a stop in the west ditch.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities said no names would be immediately released.
County V was closed between County K and County B for about five hours as crews worked at the scene.
Campbellsport Ambulance, City of Fond du Lac Ambulance, ThedaStar Air Medical Helicopter, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Fond du Lac County Highway Department assisted at the scene.
