Fire destroys Towne Road workshop shed in Waupun township

WAUPUN – A pre-dawn fire destroyed a 20-foot-by-30-foot workshop shed on Towne Road in Waupun township March 17.

No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation but not considered suspicious, according to authorities.

No injuries reported; nearby buildings protected

Waupun Fire Department crews were dispatched at 4:22 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, after a neighbor reported a building fully engulfed at N4590 Towne Road in the town of Waupun, according to Fond du Lac County officials.

Deputies contacted the property owner, who had safely exited the residence and confirmed everyone was accounted for.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control and reported no extension to nearby structures, remaining on scene for about two hours for suppression and overhaul.

Shed is a total loss; electrical issue suspected

The fire destroyed a 20-foot-by-30-foot metal shed used as a workshop.

Fond du Lac County authorities estimated the building’s value at about $23,000; the cause remains under investigation, but officials said it is not considered suspicious and is believed to involve an electrical issue.

Multiple departments and agencies assist at the scene

Responding departments included Waupun, Oakfield, Lamartine, Alto, Brandon-Fairwater, Rosendale, Brownsville, Burnett, Kekoskee and RIT Team 4, along with Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies. Lifestar EMS, Alliant Energy, the Fond du Lac County Highway Department and the Town of Waupun also assisted.
