Big stars, big machines, big monsters — we’re definitely in the heart of the summer movie season.
Here’s what’s new in Milwaukee-area theaters starting June 27, as well as some of the new movies available on streaming and on demand this week.
‘F1 The Movie’
Short version: Thirty years after an accident nearly put the brakes on his career, a Formula 1 driver (Brad Pitt) is hired by his former teammate (Javier Bardem) to join a struggling racing team featuring a hotshot young rookie (Damson Idris). Kerry Condon and Tobias Menzies co-star in one of the summer’s most anticipated action movies, directed by Joseph Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”).
Where you can see it: ACX Cinema/Bayshore; AMC Mayfair Mall; Avalon Theater; Downer Theatre; Marcus Theatres’ Bistroplex Southridge, Hillside, Majestic, Menomonee Falls, Movie Tavern Brookfield Square, North Shore, Ridge, South Shore cinemas.
‘M3GAN 2.0’
Short version: The technology behind that deadly, A.I.-powered companion doll that ran amok two years before has been used to create the ultimate killer spy. When the cyborg secret agent goes rogue/becomes sentient, the scientist behind M3GAN gives her an upgrade to make her the last line of defense. Allison Williams, Violet McGraw and Amie Donald (aka M3GAN) return from the original with Ivanna Sakhno as the new-model killer bot in this horror sequel.
Where you can see it: ACX Cinema/Bayshore; AMC Mayfair Mall; Marcus Theatres’ Bistroplex Southridge, Hillside, Majestic, Menomonee Falls, Movie Tavern Brookfield Square, North Shore, Ridge, South Shore cinemas.
‘Hot Milk’
Short version: A young woman traveling to the coast of Spain with her ailing mother finds possible alternatives to being dominating by her mom. Emma Mackey, Vicky Krieps, Fiona Shaw and Vincent Perez star in this indie drama.
Where you can see it: AMC Mayfair Mall.
Opening July 2: ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’
Short version: Five years after the events of “Jurassic World Dominion,” a scientist is recruited to go to an island that’s home to the biggest of the revived dinosaurs, in the hopes that he can retrieve their DNA to bring cures to humanity. What could possibly go wrong? Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali star in the latest extension of the Jurassic Cinematic Universe; this one was written by screenwriter and Pewaukee native David Koepp, who wrote the original — 1993’s “Jurassic Park,” still the best of the bunch.
Where you can see it: ACX Cinema/Bayshore; AMC Mayfair Mall; Avalon Theater; Marcus Theatres’ Bistroplex Southridge, Hillside, Majestic, Menomonee Falls, Movie Tavern Brookfield Square, North Shore, Ridge, South Shore cinemas; Oriental Theatre; Times Cinema.

Michael Greyeyes, Kataem O’Connor and Tyrone Benskin co-star in this sci-fi thriller, which had its local debut at the 2025 Milwaukee Film Festival.
Where you can see it: AMC Mayfair Mall; Marcus Theatres’ Menomonee Falls Cinema.
