Consumers have been monitoring egg prices since the start of the year when factors like the bird flu resulted in price surges on the product.
In April, the Appleton Post-Crescent visited grocery stores throughout the area to see how much eggs cost just before Easter Sunday.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national average cost of a dozen grade A, large eggs this April was $5.12. After visiting a number of grocery stores on April 14, we found that the cheapest option was $3.99 at Kwik Trip and the most expensive option was $5.49 at Aldi, Meijer and Piggly Wiggly.
Now, at the start of the summer, grocery stores in the Appleton area have been lowering their egg prices.
As of June 2, here’s how egg prices are looking at local grocery stores.
