OSHKOSH – The awards just keep coming for EAA.
AirVenture Oshkosh has copped yet another accolade, with the world’s largest fly-in convention being named a Thrills ‘n’ Wheels winner in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
Pooled with other world-famous shows, AirVenture ranked No. 8 in the category for Best Air Show in a series of lists highlighting the country’s best in travel, food and lifestyle.
Other categories included Best Attraction for Car Lovers, Best Boat Show, Best Car Show, Best NASCAR Track, Best Motorsports Race and Best Rodeo.
Every week, USA TODAY 10Best invites a panel of industry experts to nominate their favorite points of interest and attractions across a range of categories.
10Best editors then vet these nominations and select a final set of nominees to be presented to the voting public for a period of four weeks.
The award comes in recognition of a fly-in convention that routinely attracts more than 10,000 aircraft and more than 600,000 people to Oshkosh every July.
Last year’s show set record numbers for attendance (686,000), exhibitors (861) and international countries represented (98).
It’s just the latest acknowledgement for EAA, which was featured in a publication of Travel + Leisure last year as one of the 10 best aviation museums in the country.
CNN Travel and Group Travel Leader also ranked EAA among the very best aviation museums worldwide.
This year’s 72nd edition of EAA AirVenture will be July 21-27 at Wittman Regional Airport.
