Claire Sardina’s life story is coming to the big screen in “Song Sung Blue,” a biopic about Claire (Kate Hudson) and her husband Mike (Hugh Jackman) and their Neil Diamond tribute act Lightning & Thunder. (Mike was Lightning, and Claire, Thunder.)
But on Dec. 30, Claire is heading to the kind of place where it all began for Lightning & Thunder: a Milwaukee-area bar.
Claire, who spends her winters in Arizona, will be in her native Milwaukee around the holidays, where Lightning & Thunder performed Neil Diamond-heavy sets, and paid tribute to artists like Patsy Cline and ABBA, from 1989 to 2006. Claire will perform at 6 p.m. Dec. 30 at Paulie’s Pub & Eatery, 8031 W. Greenfield Ave., in West Allis.
As part of the promo push for “Blue” – an Oscar- and box-office-hit hopeful from Focus Features in theaters Christmas Day – Claire’s had plenty of high-profile opportunities to warm up for her headlining gig. On Dec. 2, she sang at the Milwaukee premiere for “Blue” at the Oriental Theatre, and at the after party at Landmark Lanes with Jackman and Milwaukee band 5 Card Studs. Sardina sang with Jackman again, and also Hudson, at a premiere party for the film in New York Dec. 11.
