Check out the top prep performers in Manitowoc and Sheboygan

There was plenty of action to look back on from the past week.

Here are the top prep performers from the week of May 18-23 in Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties.

There won’t be a set number of players chosen in each sport in a given week, just including performances which stood out and deserve recognition.

This means there might be more or less than the week previous.

Another criteria is to limit selections to one player per team, per sport.

Boys track and field

Jayden Wesaw, Sheboygan South: Wesaw won both the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.65 seconds and the long jump with a distance of 21-feet, 10.5 inches on May 19 at the Glacier Trails Conference championship meet. Plymouth’s Deven Miller was first in the 100 (10.90) as well.

Ely Kohlman, New Holstein: Kohlman was first in the long jump (21-5) and triple jump (42-1) on May 18 at the Eastern Wisconsin Conference championship meet. Other area winners included Sheboygan Falls’ Austin Seebruch in the 100 (11.20) and 200 (23.06), Kiel’s Sam Keuler in the 1,600 (4:46.98) and 3,200 (10:19.17) and Roncalli’s Dominic Thiele (800, 2:04.66).

Rowan Otto, Oostburg: Otto won the 100 (11.29) on May 18 at the Big East championship meet. Other area winners included Manitowoc Lutheran’s Trenton Schuettpelz in the long jump (21-2.5), triple jump (43-2) and 300 hurdles (42.14), Mishicot’s Wyatt Sosnosky (pole vault, 12-0), Cedar Grove-Belgium’s Weston Huenink (1,600, 4:29.72), Howards Grove’s Odin Schulz in the 200 (23.07) and 400 (49.89), Kohler’s Oscar Gumm (800, 2:02.23) and Ozaukee’s Jack Lentz in the shot put (50-8) and discus (162-4).

Girls track and field

Maddison McDole, Kiel: McDole was the winner in both the high jump (5-4) and 300 hurdles (47.05) on May 18 at the Eastern Wisconsin Conference championship meet. Other area winners included Sheboygan Falls’ Nora Halverson in the long jump (16-9) and triple jump (36-4), Two Rivers’ Allie Gallagher in the 800 (2:28.51) and 1,600 (5:32.04) and Valders’ Paige Backus (400, 1:00.37).

Brianna Ladwig, Plymouth: Ladwig won the shot put (38-0.5) at the Glacier Trails Conference championship meet while Sheboygan South’s Liliana Herber earned the conference title in the discus (104-7).

Calla Eichmann, Manitowoc Lincoln: Eichmann was the Fox River Classic Conference champion in the 200 (26.29) and 400 (1:00.41) on May 19.

Kennedy Kneser, Oostburg: Kneser was the Big East champion in the discus (134-11) on May 18. Other area winners included Manitowoc Lutheran’s Eva Manzano (triple jump, 35-11.5), Mishicot’s Juliana Doerner in the 100 (12.30) and 200 (25.07), Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah’s Jenna Dirks (shot put, 40-8.5) and Kohler’s Maggie Behler in the 800 (2:19.69) and 1,600 (5:06.45).

Baseball

Collin Thorne, Kohler/Christian: Thorne went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs on May 18 in a 10-0 victory against Mishicot in five innings.

Nathan Christensen, Reedsville: Christensen drove in four runs and was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles on May 18 in a 10-0 win over Howards Grove in five innings.

Caleb Walleser, Manitowoc Lutheran: Walleser went 3-for-4 with a double and triple while driving in four runs on May 18 in a 9-1 victory against Sheboygan Falls.

Austin Ebert, Valders: Ebert was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a double, home run and four RBIs in a 12-0 win over Sheboygan Falls in five innings on May 19.

Brennen Goble, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah: Goble went 3-for-3 with a home run, double, three runs scored and four RBIs on May 19 in a 10-0 victory against Hilbert in five innings.

Logan Michaels, Random Lake: Michaels was 4-for-4 with five runs score, a double, triple and seven RBIs in a 27-0 win in five innings over Oostburg on May 19.

Josh Anzia, Cedar Grove-Belgium: Anzia went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and four RBIs on May 19 in a 14-3 win over Howards Grove in five innings. The Tigers were led by Parker Wilson who went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Logan Guzman, Kiel: Guzman was 1-for-4 with a three-run home run on May 21 in an 8-6 victory against Brillion which clinched the Eastern Wisconsin Conference title for the Raiders.

Softball

Emily Fischer, Sheboygan North: Fisher was 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs on May 18 in a 13-2 win over Sheboygan South in five innings.

Evelyn Devine, Sheboygan Falls: Devine went 2-for-3 with three RBIs on May 18 in a 7-5 win over Kiel.

Ava Daggett, Random Lake: Daggett was 2-for-4 with a home run and your RBIs in a 7-5 victory against Mishicot on May 18.

Amelia Henschel, Plymouth: Henschel drove in three runs and scored once herself while stealing three bases on May 18 in a 12-1 win over West Bend East in six innings.

Anna Klein, Two Rivers: Klein tossed 11 shutout innings and struck out 18 while allowing just one hit and issuing three walks in a 1-0 victory against Valders in 11 innings on May 18.

Andie Koenig, Howards Grove: Koenig went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a triple and three RBIs on May 19 in a 17-1 win over Sheboygan South in three innings.

Girls soccer

Stevie Brunner, Manitowoc Lutheran: Brunner scored a pair of goals on May 19 in a 3-2 victory over Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah which was led by two goals from Taylor Mersberger.

Taavi Saeger, Kiel: Saeger had a hat trick with three goals in an 8-0 win against Roncalli on May 21.

Julia English, Sheboygan North: English scored three goals on May 21 in a 4-0 victory over West De Pere.

Mollie Schliewe, Sheboygan Falls: Schliewe struck twice in the Falcons 3-0 win against New Holstein on May 19.

Lexi Gruman, Ozaukee/Random Lake: Gruman had two goals in a 4-1 victory on May 19 over Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian.

Gracie Schmidt, Cedar Grove-Belgium: Schmidt notched a hat trick on May 19 in a 7-1 win against Kohler.

Anne Azpiazu, Oostburg: The Flying Dutchmen defeated Brown Deer 8-0 on May 21 with Azpiazu tallying three goals.

Keeran Blattner, Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian: Blattner had a pair of goals in a 5-2 win over Kohler on May 21.

Boys tennis

Dylan Grueneberg, Kohler: Grueneberg prevailed in his No. 1 singles match against Plymouth 6-0, 6-0 as the Blue Bombers defeated the Panthers 6-1 as a team. Plymouth’s lone win came at No. 1 doubles where Gianni Frausto and Cavin Baltus won 6-4, 6-2.
