Cheba Hut to open May 11 in Greenfield with 'munchies' menu

Greenfield is about to get a little toasted − in sandwich form.

Cheba Hut, a cannabis-themed sub shop founded in the 1990s, is set to debut its new location in Greenfield.

Known for its laid-back, cannabis-themed vibe and “curing people of their munchies,” the shop will open its south suburban location May 11, after first being proposed in the city in December 2025.

The restaurant is operated by husband-and-wife duo Heather and RC Huhn.

“RC and I are both foodies at heart, so when we started looking into business concepts, the combination of great subs and a full bar immediately caught our attention,” said Heather Huhn in the news release. “We made the trip to Madison to try it for ourselves, fell in love with the food and never looked back.”

To celebrate its arrival in Greenfield, the sub shop will host a kickoff event May 11.

And before you ask: canniabis is not on the menu at the sandwich shop.

Here’s what you need to know about the Greenfield Cheba Hut location:

Where is it?

Cheba Hut is located at 8871 W. Sura Lane in the 84 South Shopping Complex, just off Interstate 94 near the corner of 84th Street and Layton Avenue.

What’s happening at the kickoff celebration?

In addition to its signature toasted subs and baked “munchies,” the kickoff event will feature raffles for exclusive Cheba Hut gear and a chance to meet fellow sub-sandwich lovers − or as the brand calls them, “homies.”

What’s on the menu?

Cheba Hut’s menu features toasted subs, sides, snacks and sweets, along with a full bar.

Subs − named with a nod to cannabis culture − come in three sizes: nugs, a 4-inch sub; pinners, an 8-inch sub; and blunts, a 12-inch sub. They can be ordered on white, wheat or garlic bread.

Fan favorites include the White Widow, made with chicken, bacon and ranch; the spicy Kali Mist club; and the Dank, a pizza sub.

The menu also includes chips, desserts and bottomless Kool-Aid.

A full menu can found at chebahut.com/menu.

Who are the owners?

Behind the new joint in Greenfield are franchisees Heather and RC Huhn.

Heather Huhn previously worked in the Franklin Public Schools system, while RC Huhn has an entrepreneurial background, including serving as co-owner of Viking Masek Global Technologies.

The Greenfield location marks the Huhn’s third Cheba Hut, joining shops in Milwaukee and Shorewood.

Hours

Cheba Hut Greenfield will be open from 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday, with extended hours from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
