Trey Ebel put pen to paper.
The Milwaukee Brewers’ first-round selection in the 2026 MLB Draft made it official when he signed his first professional contract on Friday, July 17, inside American Family Field.
Ebel, a high school shortstop prospect from Corona, California, signed for $2.8 million, according to MLB.com reporter Jim Callis.
That price tag is well below the slotted figure for the No. 25 pick, which is about $3.7 million.
The 17-year-old Ebel is now joining his brother in the Brewers organization. The Brewers selected older brother Brady Ebel in the first round in 2025 with the 32nd overall pick.
Brady is playing with the Brewers’ Class Low A affiliate, the Wilson Warbirds.
“It’s an honor to be on the same team as him,” Trey Ebel told local media after being picked. “It broke me down seeing him cry. Just, all the years of us competing against each other and trying to make each other better, and then it happened.”
Trey’s and Brady’s dad, Dino, is the Los Angeles Dodgers third-base coach.
Trey Ebel, who doesn’t turn 18 years old until September, was projected to be a second-round pick, and after the Brewers signed him to below that No. 25 value, they can use those savings for other players in the draft.
The 6-foot, 180-pounder was a Texas A&M commit and is coming off a season at Corona High School, the same school where Brice Turang attended, in which he hit .417 with nine home runs and 47 RBIs over 31 games.
