Background: The high school edition of the Oliver and Tony Award-winning play, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” takes place 19 years after Harry, Ron, and Hermione saved the Wizarding World. They’re back on a most extraordinary new adventure – this time, joined by a brave new generation that has only just arrived at the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When Harry Potter’s headstrong son, Albus, befriends the son of his fiercest rival, Draco Malfoy, it sparks an unbelievable new journey for them all – with the power to change the past and future forever. Prepare for spectacular spells, a mind-blowing race through time, and an epic battle to stop mysterious forces, all while the future hangs in the balance.

What they’re saying: “Playing Albus Potter in ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ has been such a cool experience,” said junior Lily Goodwin. “Everyone knows about Harry, Ron and Hermonie, so it is extra fun for me to bring the next generation to the stage. Harry and Albus have a very complicated father-son relationship that I think many can relate to.”

Take-home message: “We are thrilled to be the first to bring this magical, record-breaking theatrical experience to the Fox Valley,” said director Ron Parker.

“The play deals with issues of identity, adolescence, family, friendship, parenting, memory, prejudice, and grief. It’s about something we have all experienced – either as mothers and fathers or sons and daughters: what it feels like, in some way, to be a cursed child. It’s a story that we hope will work its own true magic on the hearts and minds of our audiences.”
