Division 1 regional finals
Kimberly 6, Fond du Lac 2
KIMBERLY – The second-seeded Papermakers took charge early and held off the seventh-seeded Cardinals.
Sophie Hermus was 3-for-4 with a double, while Payton Schreiber was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Kimberly attack.
The Papermakers led 1-0 after one inning and 4-0 after three. The Cardinals scored once in the fourth, but Kimberly answered with two in the fifth. Fond du Lac closed out the scoring with one in the seventh.
Bella Ellestad earned the win in the circle, pitching seven innings while allowing five hits, two unearned runs and three walks while striking out five.
Kimberly will face third-seeded Neenah in the sectional semifinal June 2.
Hortonville 6, D.C. Everest 5
HORTONVILLE – The third-seeded Polar Bears scored in four of the six innings in which they batted and then held off a late charge by the sixth-seeded Evergreens.
Hortonville led 1-0 after two innings, 3-0 after three, 4-2 after four and 6-2 after five before Everest scored three times in the sixth.
Ivy Schroeder, Grace Danoski, Emmy D’Addario, Samantha D’Addario and Maddy Gassner had two hits apiece to lead the Polar Bears.
Aubrey Klatt helped power Everest, going 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs. Mara Meverden was 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.
The Polar Bears will face second-seeded Stevens Point in the sectional semifinal June 2.
Neenah 4, Kaukauna 3
NEENAH – The third-seeded Rockets downed the sixth-seeded Ghosts in regional final action.
Neenah went ahead 2-1 in the fourth inning and made it 3-1 in the fifth and 4-1 in the sixth. Kaukauna scored two in the seventh, but the rally came up short.
The Ghosts won four of the past five Division 1 state championships.
The Rockets will take on second-seeded Kimberly on June 2 in a sectional semifinal.
Appleton North 10, Menasha 0
APPLETON – The top-seeded Lightning got a five-inning perfect game from Charlotte Radtke in the regional final win over the Bluejays.
Radtke struck out seven batters in the victory as the Lightning advances to play at home against Waupun in the sectional semifinals June 2.
Drew Brown had two hits and three RBIs for North. Alyssa Wald had two hits, Evelyn Frega had two hits and drove in two runs, and Radtke also had two hits.
Division 2 regional finals
Fox Valley Lutheran 11, Notre Dame 0
APPLETON – The top-seeded Foxes used an eight-run second inning to take charge en route to the win over the fourth-seeded Tritons in five innings.
Madison Babcock pitched a no-hitter for the Foxes. She struck out 13 batters.
Babcock and Claire Pfrang both had two hits and two RBIs. Nora Probst added three hits for FVL.
FVL will host second-seeded Luxemburg-Casco in the sectional semifinal June 2.
Luxemburg-Casco 6, Seymour 4
LUXEMBURG – The second-seeded Spartans rallied from an early two-run deficit en route to the regional final win.
Seymour led 2-0 after two innings before Luxemburg-Casco scored one in the third. A five-run sixth gave the Spartans the lead, but the Thunder made things interesting, scoring twice in the seventh.
Kaylee Rettler was 3-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI, while Kendra Rettler was 3-for-4 with one run scored for Seymour.
Seymour outhit the Spartans 12-9.
Luxemburg-Casco will face top-seeded Fox Valley Lutheran on June 2 in a sectional semifinal matchup.
Kewaskum 6, Winneconne 3
KEWASKUM – Brianna Krause was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs as second-seeded Kewaskum downed the sixth-seeded Wolves in regional final action.
Maddyn Sabish was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Milli Kreif was 2-for-3 for Kewaskum.
Aubrey Mitchell helped power Winneconne, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Sayge Pelletier was 3-for-3 with a run scored.
Kewaskum led 1-0 after three innings, 5-0 after four and 6-2 after five before the Wolves closed out the scoring with a run in the sixth.
Kewaskum will face top-seeded Denmark in the sectional semifinal June 2.
Division 3 regional finals
Southern Door 6, Brillion 0
BRUSSELS – Alanah Kaye allowed three hits through seven innings with 13 strikeouts as the top-seeded Eagles blanked the fourth-seeded Lions in regional final action.
Reese Vogel helped pace the Southern Door offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Grace Vogel was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Carter Miller doubled to lead Brillion.
The Eagles will face second-seeded New Holstein in the sectional semifinal June 2. The Huskies defeated sixth-seeded Valders 8-4.
BASEBALL
Division 2 regional quarterfinals
Xavier 5, Wrightstown 0
APPLETON – The Hawks scored four runs in the first inning and went on to notch the win over the Tigers to advance to the regional semifinal June 2 against Notre Dame.
Xavier improved to 15-6 with the win.
Kyler Bleck had two hits for Xavier, while Gavin Wiese drove in two runs. Carter Hermus, Easton Stempa and Titan Milhaupt each had a double for Xavier.
Bleck pitched the first five innings, allowing four hits while striking out one to get the win.
Jacob Miller started and took the loss for Wrightstown, which finished with an 8-13 record.
Chilton 10, Berlin 2
CHILTON – The Tigers, who trailed 2-1 after two innings, scored five runs in the third inning to take control of the game in their win over Berlin.
Chilton will play at Waupaca in a regional semifinal June 2.
Ethan Schneider had four hits and three RBIs for Chilton, while Ryan Schmitz added three hits and drove in three runs. Carsin Cullen had two hits and drove in two runs. Schneider and Kale Wagner both had triples.
Toby Miller had three hits for Berlin.
Winning pitcher Nathan Mueller pitched the first six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk. He struck out four. Wagner pitched the final inning.
Westin Sawallish took the loss for Berlin.
Notre Dame 11, Freedom 6
GREEN BAY – The Tritons broke away from a 3-3 tie against the Irish by scoring four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to get the win.
Jacob Reineking had two hits and scored four runs for Notre Dame, while Oliver Lindstrom had two hits and drove in three. Ty Bumgardner also drove in three runs for Notre Dame, which will host Xavier in a regional semifinal on June 2.
Drew Magnuson pitched five innings for Notre Dame to get the win. Brennen Frelich and Reineking pitched the final two innings to close out the game.
Freedom, which finished with five hits, was hurt by committing five errors.
Fox Valley Lutheran 12, New London 4
NEW LONDON – The Foxes punched their ticket to the regional semifinal with the win over the Bulldogs.
Fox Valley Lutheran, which improved its record to 13-9, will play at No. 1 seed Seymour.
Wyatt Schlueter and Spencer Bromm had three hits apiece for FVL. Noah Mayer drove in three runs and Jack Schlueter had two hits and two RBIs.
Schlueter was also the winning pitcher. He struck out four batters in 5⅔ innings.
New London ends its season with a record of 10-7.
Waupaca 22, Sheboygan Falls 1
WAUPACA – The Comets scored five runs in the first inning and plated 16 runs in the second inning in their win over the Falcons.
Waupaca will host Chilton in a regional semifinal June 2.
Waupaca had eight hits and also took advantage of 11 walks and eight errors by Sheboygan Falls.
Austin Sharpe took the loss for Sheboygan Falls.
Denmark 10, Clintonville 0
DENMARK – Cade Delarwelle pitched five innings of one-hit ball to lead the Vikings to the win over the Truckers.
Delarwelle, the winning pitcher, allowed three walks and struck out six with Caden Kersten pitching the sixth inning, allowing a single for Denmark.
The Vikings will host Marinette in a regional semifinal June 2.
Kersten led Denmark, which scored in every inning, with three hits. Jaxon Pinchart had two hits and scored twice. Braedon Heezen also scored two runs.
Division 3 regional quarterfinals
St. Mary Catholic 6, Shiocton 4
FOX CROSSING – The Zephyrs scored four runs in the third inning to overcome a 2-1 deficit in their game against Shiocton.
St. Mary Catholic advances to the regional semifinal June 2 at Marathon.
Caleb Vogel had three hits for St. Mary Catholic. Jacob Ernsting and Owen DeWitt both drove in two runs.
Ethan Plutz pitched the first five innings for St. Mary Catholic to get the win. He allowed three runs on three hits and five walks while striking out three. Ernsting pitched the last two innings, giving up a run on two hits and two walks while striking out five.
Auburndale 12, Weyauwega-Fremont 2
WEYAUWEGA – The Eagles, who are seeded 10th in the tournament, upset the seventh-seeded Warhawks.
Auburndale, with a 10-9 record, will face Wittenberg-Birnamwood in a regional semifinal June 2.
Weyauwega-Fremont finishes its season with a record of 5-11.
Division 4 regional quarterfinals
Hilbert 2, Almond-Bancroft 1
HILBERT – The Wolves scored twice in the second inning and made the runs stand up in the win over the Eagles.
Spencer Karls pitched a complete game for Hilbert, allowing one run on three hits and a walk while striking out eight.
Max Schneider had two hits for Hilbert, while Karls and Drew Halbach drove in the Wolves’ runs.
Hilbert will play at Reedsville in a regional semifinal June 2.
Green Lake/Princeton 10, Manawa 0
PRINCETON – The Tigersharks scored three runs in the first inning, four in the second and three in the fourth in their win over the Wolves.
Jamison Luepke led Green Lake/Princeton with three hits and three runs scored. Rossi McCutcheon, Hunter Kelman and Lewis Lofgren each had two RBIs.
Drake Westfield and McCutcheon combined to limit Manawa to three hits.
Regular season
Neenah 11, Appleton North 7
NEENAH – The Rockets took a 7-3 lead over the Lightning with a six-run third inning and then broke through for three runs in the sixth inning to complete the victory.
Neenah is now 16-9 overall and finishes 12-6 in the FVA. Appleton North finishes 8-10 in conference and is 12-11 overall.
Owen Pire had two hits, including a double, for Neenah. Levi Boivin also had two hits.
Jackson Skorr and Nathan Ramus led Appleton North with three and two hits, respectively. Skorr and Owen Reuland both drove in two runs.
Colin Reddy gave up seven unearned runs in 2⅔ innings and took the loss for Appleton North.
Kimberly 5, Hortonville 2
HORTONVILLE – The Papermakers scored three times in the second inning and twice in the third to defeat the Polar Bears.
Kimberly finishes its Fox Valley Assocation season with a 17-1 record, three games better than runner-up Kaukauna.
Pierson Hacker had two hits, including a double, for Kimberly. Jake Mau had two hits and two RBIs.
Bryce Mischler pitched five innings to get the win. He allowed two runs and struck out five. Braeden Hermes pitched two hitless innings and struck out one.
Gary Wuest had two hits for Hortonville, which finished with four hits.
Isaac Behnke took the loss for Hortonville (11-7 FVA).
Fond du Lac 5, Appleton West 3
FOND DU LAC – The Cardinals rallied from a 3-1 deficit with a four-run rally in the sixth inning in their Fox Valley Association win over the Terrors.
Henry Ott, who pitched five innings, allowed all of the Fond du Lac runs and took the loss for Appleton West.
Appleton West finished with three hits – singles by Ethan Chosa, Quinn Meyers and Isaac Ise.
Pulaski 7, Menasha 1
MENASHA – The Red Raiders trailed the Bluejays 3-2 after five innings but took command of the game with a five-run sixth inning en route to the nonconference win.
Eli Heuser and Braun Wotruba both drove in two runs for Pulaski. Mason Heintz and Gavin Sikorski both had two hits. Heuser had a double.
Brock Wiedeman pitched the first four innings for Pulaski, with Gabe VerGiesen, Sikorski and Maverick Amenson each pitching an inning of relief.
Green Bay Preble 6, Little Chute 2
LITTLE CHUTE – Trent DeMeuse allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out 10 to lead the Hornets to the nonconference win over the Mustangs.
Will VanBoxel shut out Little Chute over the final two innings, giving up a hit and three walks while striking out three, for Preble.
Everett Sachs had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs for Preble. David Petasek had two hits and scored four times. Carlos Prado had two hits.
GIRLS LACROSSE
WIAA regional semifinals
Appleton United 10, Neenah 6
APPLETON – The United took a 4-0 lead in the first period in their win over the Rockets.
Kayden Smit and Riley Harris both had three goals for Appleton United. Ally Rhoda, Naomi Konkle, Chloe Rhoda and Candice Guerrero accounted for Appleton United’s other goals.
Morgan Muntner had seven saves in goal for Appleton United, which plays at Waunakee in a regional final June 2.
GIRLS SOCCER
Kimberly 5, D.C. Everest 0
KIMBERLY – The Papermakers led 3-0 at halftime in the nonconference win over the Evergreens.
Vada Sousek scored three goals and had an assist for Kimberly. Kennedy Ebben scored two goals. Ashlyn Krueger added three assists.
Bee Brockert and Naomi Sotomayor shared time in goal for Kimberly. Sotomayor made one save.
