Two people and one dog died after a Saturday morning house fire in Brookfield that also injured three first responders.
Brookfield Fire Department crews arrived around 7:15 a.m. Feb. 28 and found heavy smoke at the home, located near Memory Lane and Brookdale Drive.
One person and a dog died at the scene. Another person died after being taken to a Froedtert Hospital, TMJ4 reported.
The fire department said no firefighters were injured, but three police officers at the scene were injured and taken to a hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Brookfield fire officials do not believe it was the result of criminal activity.
