Wichita Falls murder suspect faces new charges

More charges have been filed against murder suspect Jeremy Patrick Gibson, according to the Wichita Falls Police Department.

WFPD posted on its Facebook page on Wednesday that two charges of aggravated assault with a weapon and one charge of cruelty to non-livestock animals were added to the charges against Gibson in connection with incidents on Monday.

Gibson was being held Thursday in the Wichita County Jail on a total bail of $2.775 million, online jail records show.

He is charged with one count of murder, seven counts of aggravated assault and one count of animal cruelty, court records show.

Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The two additional charges of aggravated assault stem from Gibson allegedly pointing a firearm at two people in the Brigadoon Apartments on Seymour Road, WFPD said. The animal cruelty charge resulted from Gibson allegedly shooting and wounding a dog that was in one of the apartments.

In the case of a conviction, murder is a first degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison, and aggravated assault is a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison. Animal cruelty charges can be tried as either a class A misdemeanor with up to a year in jail upon conviction or a third degree felony with punishment of 2 to 10 years in prison.

Gibson is charged with third degree felony animal cruelty, court records show.

Police also said in their post that shooting victim Bryan Bolduc is still listed in critical condition with a bullet wound to the chest.

According to WFPD news releases and court documents filed in the case, Gibson is accused of shootings at the apartment complex at 3220 Seymour Road that began about 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

In one media release, police said Gibson shot Debra Lucas, 61, in the chest in her apartment, and she died at a hospital. A man in the apartment, Rickey Brazeal, was shot in the leg and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Gibson then went to a neighboring apartment, began kicking on the door and shot Bolduc when he came to the door, police said in allegations.

A dog in the apartment lunged at Gibson and knocked him back far enough that a woman in the apartment could shut the door, a court affidavit said.

A WFPD media release said officers found Gibson in his vehicle a short distance away and arrested him after a brief standoff.
