Texas A&M legend Von Miller nearly never became an Aggie at least not if things had gone the way he expected in high school. But one trip to Kyle Field changed everything.
Coming out of DeSoto High School as one of the top prospects in the country, Miller naturally had his eyes on the two hottest programs at the time. USC and Texas. Both sat at the top of his list. The problem? Neither offered him. Even as he expanded his search, Texas A&M wasn’t on his radar. That changed the moment he stepped foot in College Station.
Miller traveled to Texas A&M for an away game to watch his brother, who was playing for Oklahoma State. What he experienced inside Kyle Field and from the 12th Man left a lasting impression. The atmosphere blew him away, and suddenly the Aggies were no longer an afterthought.
Shortly after that visit, Texas A&M began recruiting him, sending personalized letters that made it clear he was wanted in College Station. That connection sealed the deal, setting the stage for one of the greatest careers in Aggie history.
