After averaging just 12.6 minutes per game during his rookie season, Houston Rockets guard Reed Sheppard saw increased playing time after an offseason injury to veteran point guard Fred VanVleet. Sheppard, a former No. 3 overall selection, was much more efficient in his sophomore campaign, averaging 13.5 points, 3.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 0.7 blocks while shooting 43% from the field and 39.4% from 3-point range.
With the addition of Marcus Smart and the return of the aforementioned VanVleet, Sheppard will be able to focus on long-range shooting next season on a team that finished tied for 26th in 3-pointers made during the year.
