Video captured a tree in flames as thunderstorms moved through the El Paso area Friday night.
FitFam El Paso shared video of the fire, which happened Friday, Aug. 7, near Montoya Road and Oleaster Drive in West El Paso. The blaze appeared to have started after lightning struck the tree.
Firefighters could be seen battling the flames as storms brought rain, lightning and strong winds to parts of the Borderland.
Several weather alerts were issued for the El Paso area during the evening, including thunderstorm and flash flood warnings as storms moved across the region.
More rain by end of week expected
El Paso is forecasted to have mostly dry conditions expected into early next week, followed by increasing moisture and storm chances, according to the National Weather Service. The highest chance for rain is on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 13-14.
The storms are expected to bring heavy rainfall, frequent lightening, strong winds, and isolated flash flooding, the National Weather Service said.
